Volunteer Meeting - A Success

Page Manor photosNouveau Cinema Group, Inc. (NCGI) held a volunteer meeting at the Page Manor Theater Monday, April 26 at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of this meeting was two-fold. One, to further organize and expand our volunteer base. Secondly, to let people actually see the scope of the project ahead.

The event was well attended. The new mayor of Riverside, the head of the Riverside area Chamber of Commerce, two TV stations and about 50 other people attended. All comments were positive and 20+ people joined as volunteers. Tours through the building were conducted and complimetary beverages were served.

Our thanks to all that attended the event! (See a few photos of the event here)

However we still need MORE help to make this dream happen. We need people to bring their motivation and enthusiasm. Help support the Arts in Dayton and make a difference!

NGCI is focusing its attention on the former Page Manor Twin Cinemas, 5584 Airway Road. The theater will be renamed "The Page Cinema Art Theater." Reupholstered seats and state-of-the-art projection equipment are planned. The concession area will feature the normal movie popcorn and soft drinks, plus whole-organic snacks, penny candy for kids, and beer and wine for the adults. Learn more about the theater here.

The Mission of Nouveau Cinema Group, Incorporated (NCGI) is to broaden the knowledge and appeal of cinematic art to as many people as possible. We are dedicated to the preservation, restoration and management of culturally significant theatrical venues, and the preservation and presentation of quality retrospective and new world cinema as well as the presentation of cinematic, theatrical and musical festivals and art presentations.

In addition, NCGI envisions an educational outreach to the community which would include, but not be limited to, master classes/seminar series dealing with film history, production, arts and management. A multi-tiered Film Society would offer educational and entertainment opportunities to various, specialized groups and demographics.

Through film and educational outreaches we hope to broaden the knowledge and understanding of the ever-developing multi-cultural/ethnic components of our society. Regular foreign language and English language film product would be presented in equal proportions. Our educational outreach would include the introduction of quality world-film products to children. All presentations and educational services would be offered at as little charge to the community as possible. Additionally, our proposed scholarship/grant program would provide funding for students interested in pursuing a career in the arts with additional funding for other local, national and international, non-profit arts projects.
